FOR EXPERT WITNESSES

Firms come to you.
The opinion stays yours.

Expert Evidentia is a reviewed network of country-conditions experts for asylum, withholding and CAT cases. Law firms search it and send you offers. You set your fee, turnaround and services, see the case before you answer, and sign every word you deliver.

Your application saves as you go. A person on our team reviews it and replies within 3 working days.

HOW IT WORKS

Five steps, and you can stop at any of them.

  1. 1

    Apply

Create an account and build your profile in the app: expertise, countries, track record, fees, disclosures. It saves as you go, so one sitting or several.

  2. 2

    Review

A person on our team reads it and may ask a question. Our target is a reply within 3 working days. Approval is at our discretion, and a disclosed issue is judged on its merits.

  3. 3

    Listed

Approved experts appear in firm searches for their countries, topics and case types, anonymously. This is where you wait. We cannot promise an offer, and we will not pretend to.

  4. 4

    Offer

A firm sends an offer for a specific case. You see the case type, the country and what the firm needs before you reply. Accept or decline. Only then does the firm see your name.

  5. 5

    Work and sign

Outline, draft, sources, fact check, signature and delivery, in one workspace. The firm receives a signed PDF and Word file with the sources. The record of how it came together stays with the report.

Illustrative

You can hold several cases at once, with the same firm or different firms.

INDEPENDENCE

The tools assist. The opinion stays yours.

Every expert who joins agrees to one line, and so do we: your duty is to the tribunal, not to whoever pays you.

Drafting helps, it does not decide.

AI can propose an outline, draft a section, find a source and flag a statement that does not match it. You edit, reject or replace any of it. You sign only what you believe is true.

No one tells you what to conclude.

Firms state the question, not the answer. If the evidence is thin, you say so in the report. We ask for that in the application and we mean it.

Your record, kept.

Every edit, source and approval is logged with the report, so you can show how the opinion was reached if anyone asks.

What we will never do

  • Share your name before you accept an offer
  • Ask for your win or grant rate
  • Ask for names or A-numbers of past applicants
  • Put a conclusion in your mouth

THE WORKSPACE

One place for the whole report.

  1. Outline

    built for this case

The firm's case file is there before you start. Not pasted from the last case.

  2. Draft

    or bring your own

Write in the editor, or upload your own text.

  3. Sources

    open every one

Every claim is tied to a source you can open.

  4. Fact check

    you decide

Flags what the sources do not support. What to do about it is yours.

  5. Sign

    when it is yours

Your signature, only when you believe every line.

  6. Deliver

    one bundle

The firm gets a PDF, a Word file and the source bundle.

YOUR TERMS

Set once, shown to every firm that finds you.

Fee

Flat per declaration or hourly, in your currency. Firms see it before they send an offer, so you do not negotiate from zero.

Turnaround

Your usual time to deliver, and whether you take short-notice or detained cases.

Services

Written declaration only, testimony by phone or video, in person, or case review. Firms cannot ask for what you have not offered.

Reduced-fee work

Your stance on nonprofit rates and pro bono, and how much of it. Stated once on your profile, so no one has to ask and no one gets to lean on you.

Countries and topics

The ground you cover, marked primary or secondary. Firms search by it.

Caseload

Pause new offers any time. Work with several firms, and several cases per firm.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

People who write declarations and stand behind them.

Open now: country conditions for asylum, withholding and CAT. More specialities open later.

What we ask for

Enough for a reviewer to judge your expertise, and nothing else.

Your profileIllustrativeSaves as you go
Your CVRequired

Updated in the last year.

A public page that confirms who you areRequired

Institution, ORCID, publisher, LinkedIn or a byline.

The basis of your expertiseRequired

Your role, years on these countries and what your knowledge rests on.

Countries, topics, case types, services and languagesRequired

The ground you cover and the languages you work in.

Your track recordOptional

Past declarations or testimony, if you have them, and publications.

DisclosuresRequired

Anything a court or opposing counsel could raise. We review a disclosed issue on its merits. An undisclosed one is what worries us.

What we never ask for

  • Social Security or tax ID
  • date of birth
  • home address
  • passport or license scans
  • bank details
  • citizenship or immigration status
  • religion, politics, health or orientation
  • names or A-numbers of past applicants
  • a win rate

Read the privacy notice for who sees what.

Two things we will not claim.

Offers

Firms choose for the matter in front of them. A specific, complete profile helps. We do not guarantee work or income.

Admissibility or outcomes

Review by our team is not a credential and says nothing about how a court weighs your declaration.

QUESTIONS

What experts ask first.

The full list has more.

Who can apply?

Country-conditions researchers and academics; human-rights, NGO and UN professionals; journalists; former officials and diplomats; and lawyers who practiced in the country. More specialities open later.

What do you need from me to start?

An email, a password, your country and agreement to the terms. The rest of the profile is built inside the app and saves as you go, so you can finish in one sitting or several.

How long does review take?

A person reads every application. Our target is a reply within 3 working days, with an approval, a question or a no. If we ask for more, you can edit and resubmit, and keep working on your profile meanwhile.

Will I get cases?

We cannot promise offers. Firms search by country, topic, case type, fee, turnaround and services, so a complete, specific profile is what gets found.

Can firms see who I am before I agree?

No. Search is anonymous: headline, countries, fields and a summary. Your name, employer and CV are shared once you accept an offer.

Do I have to testify?

Only if you offer it. Services are your choice: written declaration only, testimony by phone or video, in person, or case review.

Who sets my fee?

You do, flat or hourly, in your currency, and firms see it before they send an offer. Engagement terms are agreed between you and the firm.

Does AI write the report?

No. It drafts, finds sources and flags claims the sources do not support. You edit, reject or replace anything, review every source and sign the final text.
